Jim Moriarty prepares the University of Colorado School of Law mock trial team for national competition

January 7, 2010

Jim Moriarty, founding partner of Moriarty Leyendecker LLP, recently coached the mock trial team from the University of Colorado School of Law in its preparation for the upcoming competition season. This is the third consecutive year Moriarty has dedicated his time and extensive trial expertise to training the team. In 2009 the team won its regional competition and went on to compete in the national event. University of Colorado Associate Clinical Professor of Law Ann England is confident that this year’s team can build on the successes of 2009 with the help of Moriarty.

“Jim has been an invaluable resource to our trial teams,” England says. “It is a great opportunity for the students to gain the insight of a man who has dedicated so much of himself to the art of lawyering.” Moriarty helps team members sharpen their full range of trial skills, including voir dire, opening statement, and direct and cross examination of witnesses. “Jim does not just teach students to be great lawyers,” England adds. “He teaches them to be great people.” The law school fields two trial teams, with new rosters selected every year.
