Jet Set Sport Fiddles While Fans of Olympic Athletes Are Burned
2/9/2010
"Fiddling while Rome" burns is an accepted description for occupying oneself with unimportant matters and neglecting priorities during a crisis. What an appropriate term to use for the manner in which Olympic tickets are being disbursed, according to Jim Moriarty of Jame R Moriarty PC, a firm that is taking legal action to stop the heartburn that scammed victims experience.
In a recent press release, Jet Set Sport, an Olympic Ticket distributor, announced that it is bringing together "Top International Chefs to Spice Up Vancouver During the Olympic Winter Games."
While thousands of people are being victimized by ticket scammers, Jet Set Sport is concerning itself with the entertainment of the rich and powerful. While nearly $3 million dollars have been lost by individuals who were scammed for the 2010 Winter Olympics, Jet Set Sport is worried about fine dining.
Jet Set proudly proclaims that they have operated at every Olympic Games since 1984 and brag that they deliver the best in event tickets, accommodations, and even dining. They are able to do this because they monopolize the Olympic event tickets sold through lucrative arrangements with the International Olympic Committee. This domination germinates web site scams as the family and friends of Olympic athletes get desperate to find event tickets. Scammers are more than willing to play the devil's fiddle to invent fraudulent ticket distribution sites.
With the sound of the "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" in the background, evidence of ticket fiddling recently surfaced. Action Seating, a licensed ticket wholesaler in Georgia, allegedly breached its contract with eSeats.com, other ticket distributors, and thousands of customers who purchased Vancouver Olympic tickets through Action Seating.
While the fiddlers play, good people continue to get scammed and hurt. In an online topic conversation, SkyDuo4JC shared this: "How sad...I have to wake up my family tomorrow and let them know that we won't get to attend half of our events....$3000 worth. On top of undergoing cancer treatment right now, it will certainly be a sad day. I suppose where I point the most blame is the Olympic Committee itself. It was this way for Salt Lake as well....why is it that these scammers are able to get the tickets and all of our money but we're not able to just get online and have a fair shot at purchasing tickets for a wonderful event? Make the ticket prices high enough to back up the event, but allow us to have a fair chance at purchasing them. It's so unfair to the families and friends of the athletes, and really the world in general. Money will be made, but why do so many people have to be robbed....not only of their money, but of their efforts, their time, their family vacation....things that do matter in this life a lot more than money."
There is a place these fiddlers and ticket scammers should go to burn and it isn't Rome
