Taming of the Screw – Stopping the Olympic Ticket Scam

2/7/2010

More twisted than a play conceived by Shakespeare, is the farcical way the Olympic athletes and their families are being treated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The sub-plot on how event tickets are distributed can only be considered a diabolical plot.

Jim Moriarty of James R Moriarty PC wants to close the curtain on how the Olympic tickets are being distributed.  He is outraged and recently said "families and friends of Olympic athletes are getting screwed.  They are being screwed by bogus web sites; they are being screwed by the IOC; and they are being screwed by a broken system that would allow this to happen.  This needs to be fixed now!"

The script for this plot is rated RRW, for really, really WRONG!   Casting of this ticketing tragedy has been under the direction of the IOC, who gave the lead part to Sead Dizarevic.  Dizarevic has played antagonist parts in the Olympics since 1984.  His character is usually called, Schmoozer.  He almost played a role as Defendant for illegal activity related to the Salt Lake City Olympics.  Dizdarevic received immunity from prosecution by cooperating with the federal government in the case. One of Dizarevic's more villainous roles was that of "king of the under-the-rug deal " - a character he reprises on a regular basis. His understudy is CoSport/Jet Set Sports of New Jersey.

THEATRE OF THE ABSURD

Act One:  Moriarty began investigating in 2008, when he discovered that thousands of people had been "screwed" out of Olympic event tickets they had ordered and paid for through bogus web sites.  Tragic stories of disappointed parents and scammed ticket holders were repeated over and over.  Moriarty Leyendecker established a web platform to collect and disseminate accurate information.

Act Two:  As Moriarty peeled back the many layers of the ticket story, it was clear that the bogus web sites thrived as a result of desperation and despicable behavior.  Olympian families desperate to see their athletes perform become easy targets. After having mortgaged their homes to help their child qualify for the Olympics, they want to see the cumulation of their dreams. The plot thickens as we learn of the IOC's devious and despicable maneuvering to make obscene profits.  The IOC and Dizarevic use the event tickets as a bargaining chip to be negotiated with the highest bidders.  Bundling the tickets into packages that include accommodations, transportation, and meals can range in price from $3,800 to $34,500. The IOC has become the richest international sports organization at the expense of athletes and their family and friends.

Act Three: Moriarty's outrage turns to seething anger as news reports indicate that nothing has changed for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Apparently, the scammers have learned their lines well and can repeat their performances without rehearsal.  Once again, Dizarevic's command performance includes cornering the market of official tickets for sale to the rich and powerful. Once again thousands are being duped out of money by bogus ticket scams.  Once again, Olympic athletes will perform without family and friends cheering them on.  The curtain falls on a stunned audience.
