Col. Paris Davis receives Medal of Honor

On June 18, 1965, then-Army Capt. Paris Davis distinguished himself in the 19-hour Battle of Bong Son, saving the lives of four Americans and untold numbers of badly outnumbered allied fighters. Davis sustained serious wounds himself during the battle. Capt. Davis was promptly nominated for the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military recognition, but his packet languished until Moriarty and other volunteers urged government decision-makers in multiple presidential administrations to review the issue.
